How to Make a Teapot Birdhouse

Making a birdhouse out of a teapot is easy, and the result looks like a scene from "Alice in Wonderland." You can use nearly any kind of teapot that suits your fancy. Just create an opening in it and attach the pot to a spot in your garden where birds like to congregate. You'll find it serves as a conversation piece for people as well as a refuge for the feathered set.

Instructions

  1. How to Make a Teapot Birdhouse

    • 1

      Create a place for the birds to enter the teapot. You can drill a hole in front or glue the lid open with a silicone adhesive.

    • 2

      If you drill a hole in the front, glue a spoon at the opening to serve as a perch.

    • 3

      Drill a hole in the back or bottom of your teapot for mounting.

    • 4

      Insert screws through the hole and attach the teapot to the side or top of a post in your garden.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you don't have an old teapot, buy one for pennies (OK, a couple of dollars) at a local thrift shop. You can also make a teapot birdhouse from scratch. See "Resources" below.
