How to Replace a Refrigerator Drip Pan

Refrigerator drip pans can become corroded from debris and can develop cracks from the prolonged exposure to both the heat and moisture of the refrigerator. While some drip pans are interchangeable among brands it is best to first try and find a replacement in your brand to ensure a perfect fit.

Things You'll Need

• Screwdriver
• Replacement drip pan that fits your model
• Flashlight

Instructions

Prepare for Removal

1. Unplug the refrigerator from the power source and remove the decorative vent cover at the bottom of the fridge under the door. Some vent covers are screwed on but many just snap onto clip that hold them in place.

2. Pull gently on the exposed front edge of the drip pan and ease it out towards you. The drip pan slides on runners on each side of the bottom of the refrigerator. It may be full of liquid or debris so go slow and steady and then discard it.

3. Line up the new drip pan with the two side guides beneath the refrigerator and slide into place. Use the flashlight if to make sure the drip pan is in the groove on each side.

4. Clean and replace the vent cover by clipping or screwing it into place. Plug the refrigerator back into the power outlet.
