How to Find Out Divorce Records Online

Anyone can look up divorce records online.

Divorce records are a matter of public record, which means anyone can view the details on your divorce record. Your divorce paperwork is handled by the county clerk in the county where you reside. Once the divorce is finalized the clerk's office records the divorce record. From that point is it available for anyone to view online or in person at the county clerk's records office. If you want to look up a divorce record you need only know what county the divorce was recorded and the first and last name of only one person in the divorce.

Instructions

1. Look up divorce records online by looking up the county clerk's website in the county where the divorce was recorded.

2. Locate the "Public Records" link on the county clerk's website and click on it. Enter the last name and first name of the person whose divorce records you want to view and click "Search" or "Submit." The appropriate search term is not always the same on all county clerk websites.

3. View the divorce records that appear on the following screen. If more than one person in that county goes by the same name or a similar name you might have to view a few different records before you find the one for which you are looking.
