How to Join the Church of the Nazarene

The Church of the Nazarene is a Christian Evangelical Church in the Arminian, Wesleyan and Holiness traditions. Joining the Church can be a very beneficial experience both initially and for a lifetime afterward. The Church of the Nazarene is more than a church, it is a family of believers that exists to care for one another's needs, to serve and the world with the gospel and to worship God in every way possible.

Instructions

    • 1

Become saved. This is the most important step. It involves recognizing and repenting of sin, and giving one's entirely life over to God and His purposes. Specific information about Salvation can be found at Allaboutgod.com (see Resources section).

    • 2

Find a Church of the Nazarene near you. This can be done at App.nazarene.org (see Resources section).

    • 3

Speak to the pastor about your salvation experience, your desire to join the church and your desire to be baptized.

    • 4

Attend classes or sessions with the pastor about the beliefs of the Church of the Nazarene. This is the best time for you to ask questions about the doctrines of the church and the Covenant of Christian Conduct.

    • 5

Becoming inducted into the Church. This is a special service conducted by the pastor to receive new members. It is often (but not always) precluded by water baptism.

Tips & Warnings

  • Ask your Christian friends about what it means to be saved and how to become saved yourself.

  • Accepting Christ as your Savior, and becoming a member of the Church of the Nazarene should be done only after careful consideration of the consequences and rewards of both. This is a serious life-long commitment and should be treated as such.
