How to Recover Deleted Files From Vista's Recycle Bin

In Windows Vista, when you delete an item from your computer, it is initially discarded in the Recycle Bin, which serves as a holding place until you are really sure you want the deleted item off of your computer. Once you've made up your mind, you can empty the Recycle Bin and the item will be gone forever, unless you have a program that can recover deleted items after the Recycle Bin is emptied. If you delete a file to the Recycle Bin and you decide later that you've made a mistake and want the file back, recovering the file before a permanent deletion is simple, and the file will be sent to the place where it was kept before it was sent to the Recycle Bin.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Click on the Recycle Bin to open it.

  2. Step 2

Locate the file or files you deleted.

  3. Step 3

Right-click on the file and a drop-down menu will appear; click on "Restore" in this menu. This will remove the file from the Recycle Bin. If there are multiple files, you can press the "Ctrl" key and click on each file to highlight them all and then right-click and restore them. It's much faster than restoring one file at a time.
