How to Use the Peavey Classic 50 Effects Loop
Although the Peavey amp is a versatile and great-sounding amp in its own right, you can get an amazing amount of added versatility and sounds by using different types of pedal effects in conjunction with it. With the Peavey Classic 50, you have the option of placing these effects into the Peavey's "Effects Loop," which effectively puts those effects in between the pre-amp and power amp stages. In many cases, this helps maintain the clarity of the effects as well as preserve the tone of the Peavey amp.
Instructions

1
Turn off your amp (or place on "Standby") when plugging and unplugging the effects cables. Otherwise, you might hear a very loud popping sound as you work.
-
2
Run an instrument cable from the "Send" jack of the amp to the input of the effect you want to place into the loop.
-
-
3
Continue to use patch cables (if you have more than one effect you want to place into the loop) by going from the "Output" jack of the first effect to the "Input" jack of the next effect. Continue to do this until you've connected all the effects you want to include in your chain of effects.
-
4
Close the loop by running an instrument cable from the "Output" jack of the last effect in your effects chain to the "Return" jack of the amp. Visually, the effects chain would look something like this:
Amp (Send) --> Effect 1 --> Effect 2, etc. --> Amp (Return) -
5
Plug in your guitar and jam!

Tips & Warnings
Effects may sound different depending on whether you place them in the effects loop or between the guitar and the amp. Although some effects have their "suggested" place, there's truly no set rule as to what should go where or what should come first. Some may work in better places than others, but there is no "wrong" way. For a good place to start, check the BOSS website with recommended placement settings in the Resources section. Experiment by using the effects in one place, then another, and have fun!
