Felt is a fabric that is often made from wool. It can be cut easily to make letters or pockets. It is also easy to make felt scarves and even children's books. Once you have created your item, you will want to iron it out so that it looks fresh and clean. You can then use the felt item or wrap it up as a gift for a friend or family member.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Preheat your iron by turning the heat knob to setting number 5. This is the standard setting for wool. If your iron goes by a different scale, just use the number that is for wool.

  2. Step 2

Lay your felt over an ironing board.

  3. Step 3

Begin by placing your iron on the left side of the fabric and working your way to the right side. Make sure that you are continuously moving the iron and not letting it sit still in any one spot.

  4. Step 4

Flip the felt fabric over and iron the back side. Again, you want to make sure you move slowly from one side to the other, but you don't want to stall in any area.

  5. Step 5

Wait for your felt to cool off and then use.

Tips & Warnings
  • Wash your felt fabric by hand in cold water so that it doesn't shrink. Allow it to dry naturally as the fibers can come apart in the dryer.
