Things You'll Need:
- Silk scarves
- Pillow
- Rubber band
- Needle and thread, or sewing machine
-
Step 1
Obtain a silk scarf of your color choice. The size of the scarf depends on the size of the pillow you are wrapping it around. Make sure that the width of the scarf matches the width of the pillow, and that the scarf is long enough to wrap around it completely.
-
Step 2
Lay out the scarf. Lay the pillow on top of it, lining up the edges of the pillow with the edge of the scarf, leaving a 1/2-inch hem.
-
Step 3
Fold the other side of the scarf over the pillow. Make sure the scarf covers the pillow completely and the edges of all sides of the scarf are touching so they can be secured together. Make marks on the scarf where you will sew them shut.
-
Step 4
Remove the pillow. Sew the edges of the silk scarf shut, leaving open one side so you can insert the pillow. Insert the pillow, and sew the last end shut, like a pillowcase.
-
Step 1
Create rosettes out of silk scarf fabric. Wrap the silk scarf loosely around the midsection of the pillow, bringing the ends together around it.
-
Step 2
Bunch the scarf fabric together on one side, where the loose ends hang down, and wrap a rubber band around it. Tuck in the loose edges in and around the rubber band to hide it. This will create a rosette appearance.
-
Step 3
Repeat Step 2 for the other side of the pillow with a second silk scarf. This procedure can be done if you already sewed the silk scarf around the pillow, to add some flair.
