How to Prevent Fatty Liver Disease

Fatty liver infiltration is the result of the liver's inability to break down fats. The excess fat can lead to inflammation of the liver and eventual liver failure. Fatty infiltration is often asymptomatic, but may be suspected with abnormal liver function tests. It is often diagnosed using ultrasound. While specific causes are uncertain, there are some known risk factors. Here are some preventative measures to take for this condition.

Instructions

    • 1

Avoid alcohol or drink conservatively. Excess alcohol consumption can lead to fatty live infiltration.

    • 2

Use medication only when necessary. The liver filters toxins from the blood. Excess drugs can put extra stress on the liver.

    • 3

Eat a healthy diet. Reduce your dietary saturated fat.

    • 4

Exercise on a regular basis. Using exercise in conjunction with diet is critical for lower body fat content.

    • 5

If you are diabetic, work closely with your doctor to monitor and control your blood sugar.
