Wicker baskets are popular around households for many reasons, as they can be used for gift baskets, laundry hampers and more. Lining a wicker basket yourself can add your own personal style to a plain basket.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Fabric glue
  • Circle-shaped piece of green velvet (about 8 inches wide)
  • Wicker basket (with 8-inch base)
  • One 5 by 14-inch strip of green velvet
  • Three thin strips of green velvet
  • Scissors
  1. Step 1

Place several dots of glue in a spiral shape, moving outward starting in the center of the circle-shaped piece of velvet. Make sure the dots are tiny.

  2. Step 2

Place the piece of velvet inside the wicker basket, on the bottom, and press down firmly for about 40 seconds.

  3. Step 3

Make several tiny dots of glue on the longest strip of green velvet and press it carefully along the inner sides of the wicker basket for 40 seconds.

  4. Step 4

Trim the remaining strips of fabric to cater to what you may need for your wicker basket's lining.

  5. Step 5

Glue the remaining velvet strips into the basket, to make sure the entire interior is lined properly.

Tips & Warnings
  • Experiment with different materials for a lining.
  • Never use fabric glue on porous surfaces (i.e. your dining table).
