How to Line a Wicker Basket

Wicker baskets are popular around households for many reasons, as they can be used for gift baskets, laundry hampers and more. Lining a wicker basket yourself can add your own personal style to a plain basket.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

• Fabric glue
• Circle-shaped piece of green velvet (about 8 inches wide)
• Wicker basket (with 8-inch base)
• One 5 by 14-inch strip of green velvet
• Three thin strips of green velvet
• Scissors

1. Place several dots of glue in a spiral shape, moving outward starting in the center of the circle-shaped piece of velvet. Make sure the dots are tiny.

2. Place the piece of velvet inside the wicker basket, on the bottom, and press down firmly for about 40 seconds.

3. Make several tiny dots of glue on the longest strip of green velvet and press it carefully along the inner sides of the wicker basket for 40 seconds.

4. Trim the remaining strips of fabric to cater to what you may need for your wicker basket's lining.

5. Glue the remaining velvet strips into the basket, to make sure the entire interior is lined properly.

Tips & Warnings

• Experiment with different materials for a lining.
• Never use fabric glue on porous surfaces (i.e. your dining table).
