How to Size a Woman's Ring

When purchasing a ring, getting the correct size is important. A ring that does not fit will not be worn. There are two methods used to determine the size of your ring. Outlines of both methods are below, but each is so simple that you could do both within minutes. The first is a better method to use if you are buying a ring for someone else, and the second is the better method if you are choosing your own ring. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Get a ring currently worn by the woman who will wear the new one.

    • 2

Lay the ring on a flat surface, and measure the width of the ring in millimeters (mm).

    • 3

Consult a ring size chart to size the ring (see Resources). Use that ring size when ordering the new ring.

    • 4

Take a 6-inch piece of paper or string and wrap it around the finger on which you will wear the ring.

    • 5

Use the marker to make a line at the point where the end of the sting or paper meets the rest of the string. This will be where the paper completely circles your finger.

    • 6

Use a ring sizing chart to determine the size of your ring by laying the piece of paper or the string on top of the lines for the various sizes (see Resources). Order your ring based upon the size number given in the chart.
