Refilling your printer ink cartridge saves money, but not all models allow easy access to the refill holes. Generally, ink cartridges that say "Intended for single use only" are not refillable and don't have holes. Remanufactured ink cartridges can usually be refilled, using an ink cartridge refill kit.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Remove the ink cartridge from the printer. It is usually held into the printer with clips that snap open. If you are unsure how to remove the ink cartridge, check your printer's user guide.

  2. Step 2

In remanufactured ink cartridges, the hole or holes are located under the label. Rub your finger over the label to feel the hole's depression.

  3. Step 3

Carefully peel up the label. For black ink cartridges, you will see one hole. Color cartridges have two or more holes.

  4. Step 4

If the refill holes are not under the product label, look for black tape along the back or bottom of the ink cartridge. Or sometimes the refill holes are covered with a small plug. Remove the black tape or plug to refill the cartridge.
