1. Use hot pads to protect travertine countertops from hot pots and pans that may burn the counters.

3. Clean counters with hot water and a sponge or clean cloth. A stone soap may also be used.

4. Wipe up spills immediately with a clean soft cloth or sponge. Some things such as tomato juice and lemon are acidic and can etch the stone even if it has been sealed.
