How to Remove Trash Warning on a Mac

By default in the Mac OS X operating system, users are given a warning when emptying the Trash and removing files from the hard drive. This warning forces the user to confirm the decision to delete the data in the Trash. Through the Finder preferences, however, you can remove this warning to make emptying the Trash a faster process.

Things You'll Need

• Mac running OS X 10.4 or later

Instructions

1. Click anywhere on the Mac desktop to switch to the Finder.

2. Go to "Finder" in the top menu bar and select "Preferences."

3. Go to the "Advanced" tab at the top of the Preferences window.

4. Uncheck the box next to "Show warning before emptying the Trash."

5. Close the Preferences window to save the settings.
