Step 1
Silks sheets do best washed in a delicate cycle with cold water in a washing machine. Don't assume the sheets are meant to be washed in cold water. Check on the label for washing instructions. Some silk sheets require hand washing in cold water.

Don't use normal detergent and bleach regardless of how you wash them. The chemicals found in traditional laundry powders are too potent for silk sheets and can cause them to break apart. Use a detergent formulated for silk sheets.

When you get ready to dry them, never wring the excess water as silk sheets are fragile. Gentle shake the sheets to remove excess water and then hang them indoors to dry.
