Things You'll Need:
- Hubcap
- Flat-head Screwdriver
-
Step 1
The first step is to remove the old hubcap if necessary. Using a flat-head screwdriver, slide it under the edge of the hubcap. Using slight pressure and moving around the wheel clockwise, lever the hubcap at certain points, similar to opening a can of paint.
-
Step 2
After the old one is removed it is time to install the new one. Most hubcaps snap on due to a steel spring retention ring. Before trying to install make sure that this ring is installed in the hubcap properly. Most hubcaps come with this already done, but if yours is not, simply insert the ring into the slots on the interior working clockwise. Make sure you match up the ring's bent section with the notch for the valve stem.
-
Step 3
Now it is time to install the new caps. Holding the hubcap parallel to the rim, using both hands and applying even pressure, slowly increase the pressure until the hubcap starts to snap in place. Apply pressure top and bottom, and side to side until the entire hubcap is securely in place.
