Things You'll Need:
- Canned cat food
- Cat Medication
- Cat Pills
- Raw Meat

Step 1
Read the Instructions
The first step is to check the instructions on the medication or pill package. Some of them will have certain characteristics meaning that they can be a lot easier or more difficult to give to a pet. For example some medications can be simply squirted into a cats food, where as others need to be administered directly into the animal. -
Step 2
Medications
Administering medications are generally a lot easier than giving a cat pills. If you need to know about pills and not medication, then skip ahead to the next step. To give a medication the easiest way is to take the dropper in the bottle and to squirt the medicine into the cats food or some milk and mix it together. When the cats gets hungry they will simply eat the medication unknowingly.
If they are aware of this kind of tactic, then the other option is to feed the cat yourself using the dropper. To do this, firstly take the medicine and squeeze the dropper inside the bottle, making sure you have enough to give the prescribed amount primed and ready. Next hold the cat still (often standing them on a table first is the easiest way) by keeping a firm grip on the back of the neck. Gently pull the cats head backwards so that their mouth is facing upwards, and put the dropper in the mouth. Squirt the medicine in the back of the mouth and into the throat to ensure the cat swallows it all. -
Step 3
Pills
There are several different ways of giving a cat pills to swallow, although the easiest is simply to try to hide then in their food. Dry food doesn't tend to work for this, although canned food usually does. There are products available which look like a cat treat, but have a hole in the middle of them for a pill to be inserted inside. These sometimes work, although many cats will simply eat the treat and spit out the pill afterward. -
Step 4
Make Sure the Medications are Kept down
Lastly observe the cat for a few minutes after the medicine or pills have been ingested. Sometimes a cat will make themselves vomit if they don't like the taste of something they have eaten. Obviously if this happens then the medication wont have time to take effect.
