One of the most important pieces to increasing your speed is making sure you have the best equipment. That means you need good running shoes. Make sure you are wearing shoes that are comfortable and supportive.

A good way to increase your running speed is through speed workouts. Begin speed workouts by running 10-12 x 400. Use your stop watch to track your times. You should run each 400 about 8-10 seconds faster than your usual quarter mile race time. Make sure you walk between 400's and warm up and cool down well.

Strengthening your core muscles will also help to improve your running time. Strengthening your back and stomach muscles will improve your posture and overall strength. This will also reduce the risk of injury.
