How to Travel cross country with small children

Traveling by car with small children can be quite stressful, but with proper planning and timing you can achieve it with limited stress.

Things You'll Need:

  • Reservations
  • Movies
  • Wet Wipes
  • Sanitizing wipes
  • Maps
  • A Plan
  1. Step 1

    Map out your trip and determine how far you will travel each day. Make notes as to where rest stops are. Plan to stop at rest stops for bathroom breaks and stretching. Leave one adult in the car with the babies, there is no need to expose them to the germs at rest stops.

  2. Step 2

    Make reservations at hotels, call the hotel direct and if possible talk with the manager, explain that you are traveling with small children and would like a ground floor room.

  3. Step 3

    If you are traveling with babies whom are bottle fed, pre make your bottles, add the formula to the bottom and carry bottled water to mix with the formula. Add water to the bottle and shake your babies bottle is ready.

  4. Step 4

    Bring plenty of snacks and drinks for adults and children a like, have movies on hand for the children for entertainment purposes and music for your own sanity.

  5. Step 5

    Plan your stops, fill up with gas when you stop for lunch, even if you are not on empty. Bring sanitizers to always clean your hands before touching the children again after being out, in bathrooms etc. Never leave them alone in the car, always travel with another adult or someone that can help you.
