Things You'll Need:
- Sample of wedding dress fabric
-
Step 1
Decide what type of bridal shoes will go best with your wedding dress. Start by thinking about the length of your dress. If you want the dress to go to the floor then you will need to choose your heel size carefully. Either pick your shoes before the dress is finished or find a wedding shoe based on a heel size which will fit. The style of your shoes may depend on whether they are going to be visible at all times or just showing a peak every now and then. Try not to get your heart set on a pair of really fancy wedding shoes which are not comfortable. A bride with blisters is not a happy bride.
-
Step 2
Get a sample of fabric from your wedding dress. This is especially important if you want your shoes to match the dress. Ivory wedding shoes are very popular but there are more subtle shades of cream, white and ivory than you might imagine and it's hard to tell the difference without a sample of the color.
-
Step 3
When deciding on price consider whether you will be able to wear the shoes again. One option is to get shoes which can be dyed another color later.
-
Step 4
Visit the shops to try on different styles. The shopping trip is not necessarily a buying trip. I would recommend you consider buying your shoes online for a much cheaper price than you'll find in most shops (see Step 4). It's very helpful to try on your wedding shoes before buying though. Again, this is about comfort. So take a notebook and perhaps a digital camera to record how the shoes look on. Once you've found the pair you want take a note of the make and style.
-
Step 5
Find your chosen wedding shoes online. Search through Google for the manufacturer and compare prices. Consider Amazon (see Resources) for wedding shoes at value prices. If you are ordering online make sure you give yourself plenty of time before the wedding for the shoes to arrive. And build some emergency time into your schedule to take into account any problems, such as the wrong pair arriving or a late delivery.
