Things You'll Need:
- A Dermacolor minipalette or a larger palette containing a range of skin tone colors and D32 correcting colour.
- Dermacolor Fixing Powder
-
Step 1
Preparation
Try and achieve the closest shave you can, if necessary shave twice, once in either direction using a clean, good quality razor. Rinse your face with warm water then clean the area with Dermacolor Cleansing Lotion using cotton pads. This is not essential but is recommended to ensure water-resistance and to remove the remains of shaving products that may destabilise and thin the camouflage cream. -
Step 2
Correcting the beard colour
For darker beard areas you may need to consider correcting the colour of the area first. For this we recommend that you apply a red colour (D32), thoroughly and evenly, if necessary against the grain of the beard. We do not recommend the use of other products to do this as once again this could destabilise the final camouflage cream. We therefore recommend that you have a range of colours available and the minipalette or a large palette is ideal for this. After applying the correcting colour, use a powder puff to liberally apply the Dermacolor Fixing Powder and then brush off any excess. -
Step 3
Colour Choice
Once the colour of the beard area has been corrected you need cover it with a shade or shades, to match your skin tone. A Colour Match is always recommended although we have a range of products for you to do a self-match. Please remember however that your normal shade may vary when used in conjunction with creams used to correct the beard colour. Once again this is where we recommend the use of one of our minipalettes or mixed palettes, as these will contain additional graduating shades. -
Step 4
Application
Apply the required shade(s) evenly with a Sponge until 2cm past the edge of the beard area. Use a stippling action as rubbing or dragging the sponge may interfere with the correcting colours underneath. Fade away the edge with a dry sponge or brush. -
Step 5
Powdering, Fixing and Water-Resistance
Once satisfied that the area has been appropriately covered, apply the Dermacolor Fixing Powder again, so that all the area is completely covered. Allow the powder to set for approximately 5 -10 minutes, or longer depending on the extent of the area covered. After this period, the camouflage cream will be fixed. Gently brush off any excess fixing powder with a powder brush, taking care not to dislodge or damage the prepared area. Mist the area with mineral water or aloa facial mist to soften the effects of the powder. After this fixing process the treated are will be rub resistant and waterproof. As the beard area is prone to rubbing then we recommend using the Dermacolor Fixing Spray as an alternative for greater fixing power. -
Step 6
Additional Makeup or Touching Up
Additional dry make-up can be applied on top of the camoufage cream if required. Touching up should not be necessary, however the beard area can be very difficult to cover and it is possible that growth may start to appear through the camouflage cream. We therefore recommend that you apply the camouflage as late as possible as on some occasions a touch up or reapplication, including further use of fixing powder might be required. -
Step 7
Removal
Use Dermacolor Cleansing Cream until the camouflage is gently lifted from the skin. Remove with a warm, damp cloth or damp cotton pads. A second application of the cleansing cream may be required. -
Step 8
Final Cleansing (Optional)
For the final cleanse apply Dermacolor Cleansing Lotion with cotton pads. If required, now is the time to moisturize the skin with Dermacolor Moisterizer Cream.
