Step 1
Your first step is to have any spots looked at by a dermatologist. The last thing you want is to mistake signs of melanoma as just a simple age spot, only to find out later that you've let skin cancer take it's toll. Have the spots looked at by a doctor to determine their reason, and then you can work on prevention.

Step 2
Limit your sun exposure, especially around mid-day when the sun's rays are the strongest. Keeping your sun exposure in check and dousing yourself with sunscreen are two ways to keep those age spots from showing up.

Step 3
Eat right. Processed foods are not nearly as healthy as fresh, natural foods. Eat right, and be sure to take vitamins as well, just in the event you are missing something in your diet. Being healthy has more benefits than just preventing age spots.
