How to Install Putter Grips

Golf is a game of inches. In fact, one bad putt can be costly, especially when it comes to a major tournament making a sure grip essential for putters. Never enter a major tournament without first replacing all the grips on all of your clubs. This simple precaution could be the difference between the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat. In a matter of minutes you can re-grip all your clubs, including your putters.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

    Clamp the putter in a bench vise and tighten.

  2. Step 2

    Cut off the old grip and then grip tape with a utility knife. You can soften both the grip and the tape with a hair dyer if needed.

  3. Step 3

    Apply new double-sided grip tape along the length of the grip.

  4. Step 4

    Apply a generous dose of mineral spirits to the length of the freshly applied tape.

  5. Step 5

    Slide the new rubber grips over the spirited and taped grip ends. Make sure the grips do not get twisted.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be very careful when using a utility knife.
