Instructions

    • 1

Trim the boards to an accurate size, if necessary. The two 3-foot-long boards are going to be the sides of the golf ball display case. The five smaller boards are the shelves. And the two boards that are 1 1/2 feet long and 5 inches wide are the top and bottom of the display case.

    • 2

Set the shelf pieces next to you. Pick up the first one and lay it down flat. Start on one end of the shelf and measure it to 2 1/4 inches. Make a mark. Measure another 2 1/4 inches and make a mark. Repeat this procedure until you run out of shelf space. These will be where the golf ball indentations will be made.

    • 3

Repeat this procedure for the other three shelves. Use the chisel to remove a dime-size (wide) chunk of wood where each mark is on all of the shelves. It needs to be 1/4 inch deep.

    • 4

Use the sandpaper to sand down each of these indentations to make them round and smooth. These will be where the golf balls sit so they do not roll around.

    • 5

Lay down one of the side pieces on the larger flat side. Measure off 7 inches starting at the top of the board. Make a mark, then measure down another 7 inches. Repeat this process until you run out of board to mark. These marks are where you are going to nail in the shelves. Take the first shelf piece and line it up at the first mark. Apply wood glue generously over this mark, then secure the piece of wood lengthwise so it protrudes from the side of the display case perpendicular.

    • 6

Repeat this procedure for the other three marks. Let it dry. Pick up the glued-together pieces, then nail through the side board into each edge of the shelf to secure each shelf.

    • 7

Turn the side of the shelf on its side so the shelf pieces are sticking straight up. Take the other side piece and line up the marks on it with the shelf pieces. Secure a nail through the side piece into each shelf piece. If desired, you can use the wood glue on the area first and let it dry for extra hold.

    • 8

Take one of the boards that is 1 1/2 feet long and 5 inches wide. Set it on top of the wood sides. It should be a little bit above the first shelf, with a couple of inches hanging over to create a more professional look. Secure it into the top of each side board with one or two nails. Repeat this procedure with the last board on the bottom.

    • 9

Sand the edges of the side, top and bottom pieces to smooth them over and create a more polished appearance. Stain the wood or paint it if desired.

    • 10

Secure the golf ball display case to the wall with two nails on either side. Carefully place each golf ball into the indentation on each shelf, positioning it forward to show the insignia or label.
