How to Replace a Shark Vacuum Belt

Shark vacuums produces an entire line of vacuum cleaners to fit any need. From upright vacuums to canisters to lightweight models for home or business, they are quickly becoming a brand of choice. No matter how wonderful a vacuum is, if it is an upright that operates with a belt, at some point that belt is going to need replacing. Replacing a Shark vacuum cleaner belt is quite simple.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

• Replacement belt
• Flat-head screwdriver

1. Unplug the vacuum from the power source.

2. Push the handle lever so the handle is laying flat on the floor, then flip the vacuum over so you have access to the bottom of the vacuum cleaner.

3. Locate the locking screws on the brush and belt cover on the bottom of the vacuum. Turn the screws counterclockwise with a flat-head screwdriver. This will unlock the screws. The number of screws will depend upon your particular model of Shark vacuum.

4. Lift up and remove the brush and belt cover to gain access to the belt area.

5. Lift up one side of the brush roller and then the other side. Slide the old belt off the roller and out from around the pulley.

6. Insert the new belt around the pulley, and then slide it over the brush roller. Snap the roller back into place.

7. Turn the brush roll by hand a few times to make sure the belt is lined up properly.

8. Replace the brush and belt cover and lock into place by turning the screws clockwise.

Tips & Warnings

• While you have the roller brush removed from the vacuum cleaner, this is a good time to clean if of excess hair and string that has gathered over time. See your user's manual for more specific directions.
• Always make sure the vacuum is powered off and unplugged before replacing the belt, and make sure it is still powered off before plugging it back in again.
