Acrylic sheetrock is an ideal panel material. The panel is 3/16-inch thick, and extremely flat and ridged. Acrylic wall panels have a black, glossy finish for easy engraving, and are back-filled with a white-colored acrylic paint for extra appeal. Acrylic wall panels are also used on ceilings. It's not difficult to cut acrylic wall panels to re-size them.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Insert a 40-tooth blade into your Skilsaw. (The finer the blade the better.)

  2. Step 2

Brace the acrylic wall panel between two sawhorses by clamping both sides down.

  3. Step 3

Place masking tape down both sides of the line you will be cutting. This helps prevent chipping.

  4. Step 4

Slowly cut through the acrylic wall panel with your Skilsaw, starting at one end. The slower the better, as acrylic sheets may shatter.

  5. Step 5

Hold a spray bottle filled with water in the opposite hand. Keep a constant stream of water flowing on your cutting blade.

Tips & Warnings
  • Instead of a Skilsaw, you can use a table saw with a plywood blade (zero-clearance insert); a band saw with a fine blade (zero-clearance insert); a jigsaw with a metal cutting blade; or a chisel-pointed soldering iron.
  • Always wear hand and eye protection when working with power tools.
