How to Use Opalescence Gel
Having yellow teeth is unattractive. Drinks, such as tea, coffee and sodas, can be the culprits for stains on your pearly whites. Some prescribed drugs, bad dental hygiene and smoking also contribute to discoloration as well. Dentists can perform procedures that can minimize the discoloration. One of these is laser whitening, which is very expensive. For the budget-conscious, there are also remedies that you can do at home like using an opalescence gel. This is a tooth-whitening agent prescribed by a dentist or purchased over-the-counter.
Instructions

1
Go to the dentist and have a mouth tray fabricated to fit your teeth. You can purchase an opalescence gel kit with a customized mouth tray.
-
2
If you opt for an over-the-counter kit, be sure to carefully read and follow the instructions before starting the procedure.
-
-
3
Brush, floss and dry your teeth.
-
4
Press out the syringe of opalescence gel onto the mouth tray. Use only an adequate amount as prescribed to fill the front side of the tray.
-
5
Put the tray in your mouth and fit it onto your teeth. The gel will be thick enough for it to fit snugly onto your teeth. Adjust the tray so that it seals on your gum line.
-
6
Leave the tray on your mouth as prescribed by the dentist. The length of time for the teeth to whiten varies for every person and depends on the severity of the discoloration.
-
7
Measure the color of your teeth against the shade chart.
-

Repeat Steps 3 to 7 until you have achieved the desired shade of white for your teeth.

Tips & Warnings
You can avoid teeth discoloration by practicing good dental habits, including brushing your teeth, flossing and avoiding food that can easily discolor your teeth. There are opalescence gels for day or night use.
Do not expect your teeth to whiten immediately after first use. For some, it may take at least several sessions before they see results. You might notice uneven whitening after several uses or after the first use. This is normal and will even out eventually.
