Hair extensions are increasingly popular additions to beauty salon repertoires as they allow women to experiment with new lengths and colors. There are several ways of applying extensions, from sewing or gluing them on, to attaching them with double-sided tape.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Place a piece of double-sided tape across the top of the forehead of the person receiving the hair extensions after she has put on a wig cap. The adhesive should hold the cap in place and make way for the extensions.

  2. Step 2

Put another piece of double-sided tape along the hairline, overlapping the first piece of tape.

  3. Step 3

Fold the lace part of the extensions so that it is hidden by hair, making for a more natural look when you add the extensions.

  4. Step 4

Place the piece of folded lace over the double-sided tape on the forehead.

  5. Step 5

Hold the front part of the hair extensions down over the forehead and pull down on the back of the extensions, tugging them securely into place over the back of the head.

Tips & Warnings
  • If necessary, apply makeup to hide any excess double-sided tape at the hairline. If it is your first time getting extensions, have a hair stylist do the job for you and ask questions as she goes about the process.
  • Be wary of stylists with little experience or un-trained friends who offer to apply extensions for you, as things can go wrong and you risk damage to your natural hair.
