How to Bead a DZI Bracelet

Create your own DZI bracelet with a few beading supplies and these easy step-by-step instructions. DZI beads represent positive spirituality and have been worn in necklaces and bracelets for centuries. Made from agate, DZI stones have lines that create patterns over the face of the stone. Some of the lines form eyes which have additional spiritual significance for the stone. You can find decorative DZI beads at retailers specializing in spiritual amulets and in some jewelry supply stores.

Instructions

    • 1

Cut a 12-inch section of stretchy beading material like Opelon bead cord.

    • 2

Tie a double knot 1 inch from the end of the 12-inch section of cord. String seven of the round 8mm crystal beads onto the 12-inch section of stretchy cord.

    • 3

String the DZI bead onto the cord until it rests against the last 8mm crystal bead that you placed. String the remaining seven crystal beads onto the cord so they rest against the DZI bead.

    • 4

Hold both ends of your bracelet together and tie a double knot that rests against both crystal beads on each end of your bracelet. Cut off the excess and spread the beads to over the knot.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can find stretchy bead cord as well as all of the other materials necessary to make a DZI bracelet from your local craft store or from online beading suppliers. Any color, size or style of crystal bead will work for your DZI bracelet. If you use smaller beads, you will need more of them to make the bracelet. Use an even number of beads on each side of the DZI bead so your bracelet will be symmetrical.

  • Never leave scissors unattended around children.
