For the elderly, sometimes it is hard to maneuver a walker. Although walkers are lightweight, they can be difficult for an ailing person, whether young or old, to pick the walker up and walk with it. A solution to this is to add tennis balls to the feet of the legs. This enables the walker to glide easily across the floor and also protects the flooring at the same time. This means the person using the walker does not have to pick the walker up, only push on it and it glides.

Things You'll Need:

  • Tennis balls

  1. Step 1

Cut a 1-inch "X" into the tennis ball. This will be where the legs go.

Attach the balls to the ends of the two walker legs on the front, if the walker does not have wheels. If there are wheels on the front, attach the balls to the back legs.

  3. Step 3

Push the tennis ball firmly onto the leg until it won't go anymore. Make sure it is fitting snugly and won't fall off.

  4. Step 4
    Premade glide

Purchase premade glides, if you prefer. These will simply attach to the ends of the legs also, but will slide up into the leg.
