A shallow well pump is needed to pump the water from the well to your home or garden. This type of pump is designed to be used in a well where the water is 25 feet or less from the surface. The shallow well pump will create a suction that lifts the water up and into a pressure tank so that water pressure is created for your faucet. Replacement is necessary when the pump no longer has water pressure.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Turn off the electricity to the well pump from the main house breaker.

  2. Step 2

    Go outside to the well.

  3. Step 3

Open outlet and inlet ports on the jet pump (use plumbers wrench).

  4. Step 4

Remove the wiring from the old pump by unscrewing the wires from the electrical terminal.

  5. Step 5

Wrap Teflon pipe tape around the threads of the pipe for inlet and outlet.

  6. Step 6

Screw on the pipes to the new pump; inlet is the pipe from the well, outlet goes to the house. Tighten with plumbers wrench.

  7. Step 7

Wire in the new pump the same way the old one was wired, making sure to match wire color---black is positive, white is negative. Screw the wires onto the electrical terminal and tighten with your screwdriver.

  8. Step 8

Turn back on the electricity and test your new well pump.
