Things You'll Need:
- Net fabric, at least 2 by 2 feet
- Feathers of your choice, such as white peacock feathers or bleached white feathers
- Silk flowers (optional)
- White silk thread
- Silk thread that matches the feathers
- Needle
- Sewing pins
- Craft glue
- Decorative hair pins, such as pins with pearl tips
-
Step 1
Gather the edges of the net fabric and gently fold them toward each other to create a puff-like cloud of net. You may want the net to hide a bit of the bride's face or to be restricted to the back of her head, so consider the placement of the net as you are bunching it.
-
Step 2
Pin together the edges of the net with sewing pins. Put the net on the bride's head to make sure it falls into place exactly as you want it.
-
Step 3
Sew together the edges of the net with white thread to secure the puff-like shape.
-
Step 4
Arrange the feathers and flowers on your desk. Consider how you want them to lie against one another and whether the feathers should lie flat on the head or stand up.
-
Step 5
Once the feathers and flowers are arranged as you want, pin them together. You may need to trim the feathers if they are too large.
-
Step 6
Sew together the feathers by inserting your needle through the "stem" of the feathers, using an x-stitch in thread that matches the color of the feathers. Sew together with the silk flowers if you are using them.
-
Step 7
Place the feather arrangement on the net and pin in place. Place on a model or on the bride to make sure the feathers are exactly where you want them to be. Sew them onto the net.
-
Step 8
Use the decorative hairpins to secure the hairpiece on the bride's head.
