Removing thick layer of old paint from the outside of the house takes days of back breaking work if you try to do it all manually armed with a paint scraper. The alternative, of course is a chemical remover that is hazardous to your health and harmful to the environment or that may pose the risk of fire. There is another alternative. Using a selected adhesion release agent referred to as SARA technology, like Removall, is much safer for the environment and makes the job much easier to complete.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Selected Adhesion Release Agent
  • Airless sprayer
  • Putty knife/paint scraper
  1. Step 1

Apply the release agent on the house following the recommended application rate. It requires an airless sprayer and should be applied slowly to allow the water-based remover to penetrate the surface of the paint.

  2. Step 2

    Allow to set overnight.

  3. Step 3

Scrape the building with 3-inch-wide putty knives to remove the built-up layer of paint. The paint comes off in rubber strips. Discard old paint following the regulations for your area.

  4. Step 4

Apply a second coat and scrape as above to remove any remaining paint.

  5. Step 5

Wash down the walls with water to remove any traces of the stripper before repainting.

Tips & Warnings
  • Always dispose of lead-based paint according to the requirements in your area.
