How to Recover Deleted Files From the Recycle Bin

When a file is deleted in Microsoft Windows, it goes to the Recycle Bin. This allows for the recovery of a file that was deleted by accident. The file can easily be recovered by restoring it back to its previous location.

Things You'll Need

• Computer
• Microsoft Windows

Instructions

1. Minimize any open windows so the desktop is visible. Locate the Recycle Bin. It is usually visible on the desktop.

2. Double-click the Recycle Bin to open it like a folder.

3. Review the list of files in the Recycle Bin and locate the one that you would like to restore.

4. Right-click the desired file.

5. Select Restore from the menu that appears. The file is now restored to its previous location.

Tips & Warnings

• Be sure not to delete a file from the Recycle Bin unless you're absolutely sure that you will not need it again. It may not be possible to recover it.
