Cheesy popcorn is a treat commonly appreciated at a movie theater or carnival, but it's also fun to make at home as a party snack or when you want to watch a movie on a rainy night. Hard cheeses like cheddar and parmesan are the best cheeses to use when making cheesy popcorn because they melt and mix with popcorn easily. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • 1 bag of microwaveable popcorn
  • 1/4 pound parmesan
  • 1/4 pound sharp cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Cheese grater or microplaner
  • Large bowl

Instructions

    • 1

      Grate the cheddar cheese in a bowl. Also grate the parmesan. Mix the two cheeses together in the bowl.

      Microwave the popcorn. Follow the instructions on the bag.

      Take the popcorn out of the bag as soon as it finishes cooking. Pour the hot popcorn into a large bowl. Mix in the two tablespoons of butter so it coats the popcorn.

      Add the grated cheese, a small handful at a time, and mix through the hot popcorn. The heat from the popcorn will melt the cheese.
