How to Get a Smog Check License
More than 30 states require emissions or smog testing in their major cities. In an effort to reduce pollution, these tests are completed either on a semiannual, annual or biannual basis. In some states, mechanics are required to obtain special licensing or certification -sometimes called a smog check license--in order to administer these tests. Becoming certified is mandatory for work in some garages, and in others, it can lead to advancement or increased wages. This article details the procedure for obtaining a smog check license in California.
