How to Fight Chronic Hives

Hives, brought on by allergies, nerves and other stimuli, are an extremely difficult condition to deal with. Chronic hives, which last for six weeks or more, are even more difficult to treat. The cause of chronic hives is usually extremely difficult to determine. There are several proven methods to battling the pesky rash, however, that are easy to do and are usually effective for most sufferers of chronic hives.

Instructions

    • 1

Visit a doctor and get tested for Valley Fever and Lime Disease. If your hives are caused by either of these diseases, the only way to treat them is with medication prescribed by your doctor.

    • 2

Keep a diary of what you eat, taking note of any times when your hives flare up. Examine your diary to identify foods that are associated with your hives, and avoid these foods to minimize allergic reactions. Nuts, shellfish, fruits and dairy products are common culprits.

    • 3

Eliminate all chemicals from your environment, as these are frequently the trigger. Cut out your deodorant, toothpaste, laundry detergent, soap, perfume and house cleaners, and replace these with natural products.

    • 4

Avoid extreme temperatures such as freezing cold or high heat. Try to maintain a moderate temperature, between 68 and 72 degrees F, in your home.

    • 5

Drink at least 64 oz. (8 glasses) of water per day. This flushes toxins out of your system, usually eliminating many of the bacteria that cause hives.

    • 6

Eat yogurt with probiotic bacteria, such as Activia, at least once per day. Probiotic bacteria has been shown to soothe inflammation in people with hives.

    • 7

Listen to the chronic hives treatment at Hypnosis Downloads (see Resources). Hypnosis has been shown to treat allergic reactions and train the body not to react with hives as it usually would.

Tips & Warnings

  • Don't scratch your hives, as this will only aggravate the situation and make the hives worse.
