Owl pellets is an excellent source of information on the skeletal structure of the rodents that the owl has eaten as well as it teaches a lot about the ecosystem in which the owl lives. Read on to know more about the owl pellets

  1. Step 1

    Always use the owl pellets that have been fumigated

  2. Step 2

    Owl pellets come various sizes but the best ones are that which are jumbo sized as that are likely to contain a lot of information about the bone structure of the animal that has been eaten by the owl.

  3. Step 3

    Use tweezers or the wooden probes to dissect the pellets.

  4. Step 4

    Use paper plates to keep the bones

  5. Step 5

    Always use the bone chart along side to identify the bones that are there in the pellet. This helps in easy identification.

  6. Step 6

    Use the bone structure to compare with the human skeletal structure.

  7. Step 7

    Always buy from a reputed company as the likelihood of bones being broken is very high and hence it is better to have good pellet from a good company.
