Things You'll Need:
- Spiral Notebook
- Recycled Item (for the cover)
- Bending tool (like pliers)
- Scissors
- 1/8" hole punch
- Pencil
-
Step 1
-
Step 2
Photo by LezleeUse pliers or anything that works for you and gently straighten the ends of the spiral wire and curve them to mimic the curves of the other spirals. Do this to both ends.
-
Step 3
Photo by LezleeNow, gently remove the wire by using your finger tips and thumb to roll the spiral wire down and out of the bottom of the book. See image. You may have to adjust the ends here and there as you go so the wire moves smoothly through the holes but usually this process goes pretty quick and easy.
-
Step 4
Photo by LezleeRemove the top cover and put the pages and back cover neatly to the side.
-
Step 5
Photo by LezleeLine the original cover of your spiral notebook with the recycled material you wish to use as your cover. Using your pencil, carefully trace around the cover and cut it out.
-
Step 6
Photo by LezleePlace the original spiral notebook cover on top of your new cover and line them up neatly. Using your 1/8' hole punch, carefully punch holes using the holes from the original spiral notebook cover as a guide. Once complete, remove the original spiral cover and view the one you've created.
-
Step 7
Photo by LezleeCarefully place the new cover on top of the spiral notebook pages
and back cover. Make sure all holes are lined up. Replace wire by putting one end into the top or bottom hole and gently roll using your fingertips and thumbs. Wire should be moving back in through each hole. Just as before, you may have to occasionally adjust either end. -
Step 8
Using your bending tool, bend the wire on either end back to its original position. This will prevent the wire from rolling around and out through the holes.
-
Step 9
Now your project is complete. View your handy work! Once you get
the hang of this, it will only take a few minutes to do.
