Everyone has heard the old saying that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. When you have little time in the morning you may consider grabbing a breakfast bar, bagel or something else that requires little effort. But those things are packed full of preservatives and additives that your body cannot process well.

While you may like the idea of oatmeal for breakfast...who has time!! Here is a really simple way to get a wholesome breakfast in just a few minutes.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 Cup Steel cut oatmeal
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 1 tsp olive oil
  • Organic Plain Yogurt
  • Coconut
  • Organic Walnuts (or other nut of your choice)
  • Organic Honey
  1. Step 1

Bring 4 cups of water, sea salt and olive oil to a boil. Add 1 cup of steel cut oatmeal. Bring the oatmeal and water to a boil again and then turn down to a simmer and cover for 20-40 minutes (you want all of the water to evaporate). Let cool and put in a covered bowl in the refrigerator. Will keep for about a week.

  2. Step 2

Chop your walnuts (or nut of your choice) into small pieces. Store in the refrigerator in air tight container.

  3. Step 3

Each morning take 1 cup of cold oatmeal, 4 TBS of plain yogurt, 2 TBS of coconut, 3 TBS of walnuts, 1 TBS of honey and mix together. This will take you about 5 minutes to make.

You get your fiber, dairy and protein in one delicious bowl! And this yummy treat doesn't contain any preservatives or other harmful additives.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you like, add fresh fruit to your cereal. Avoid dried fruits as they are full of sugar.
