The recipe below for black forest dump cake is very decadent. Even more impressive is that it is so easy. This recipe serves about 8 people.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 box of chocolate cake mix
  • 2 standard sized cans of cherry pie filling
  • 1 stick of butter
  • ice cream or whipped topping (optional)
  1. Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.

  2. Step 2

Get a 9" x 11" rectangular casserole dish. You do NOT need to grease the dish. Dump both standard sized cans of cherry pie filling in the dish. Spread the pie filling out somewhat evenly.

  3. Step 3

Open the box of chocolate cake mix and dump the contents on top of the cherry pie filling. Do not prepare the cake mix, just dump it dry. Spread the cake mix out somewhat evenly.

  4. Step 4

Slice your stick of butter as thin as you can into as many slices as possible. Place the slices evenly all over the top of the cake mix.

  5. Step 5

Put the casserole dish in the oven and bake for 1 hour.

  6. Step 6

Once the black forest dump cake has finished baking, let it rest for about 5 to 10 minutes. After that, serve it warm. You can top it with whipped topping or ice cream.

  7. Step 7

If you would like to make a smaller dessert, use only one can of cherry pie filling, one small box of cake mix (such as Jiffy), and half a stick of butter.
