Termites destroy mores houses on a yearly basis that do house fires. There are two types of termites, subterranean and dry wood. Each can do damage to your home whether you have a crawl space or slab, wood or brick exterior. Does this Spark an idea?

Termites like moisture so make sure you channel water away from your foundation. If you have a crawl space check for leaking pipes on a regular basis. With gutters at the downspout have use a splash block to move water away from your house.

Check your foundation for cracks and fill in where necessary. This will prevent termites from migrating into you foundation.

Keep your vegetation cut back so it is not in contact with your house. Keep mulch atleast 6 inches below the framing portion of your house and if you use firewood stack it on blocks up off the ground.

Check the exterior of your house and keep all cracks filled and a good coat of paint on the outside of your home. This will prevent termites from intruding.

Have a yearly inspection by a licensed pest control company.
