How to Apply Blush on Oval Faces

Many consider the oval-shaped face to be the ideal face shape; well-balanced and perfectly proportional. The oval face shape is also considered the most versatile because most hairstyles and makeup styles are equally flattering on it. On an oval face, the forehead is narrow, the chin is small and the cheekbones are well-defined. Proper blush application on an oval face helps to bring out the high cheekbones that are characteristic of this face type.

Instructions

1. 

   Pull back your hair to reveal your cheekbones. Either clip it, tie it or use a large headband to hold the hair away from your face. Smile wide into the mirror to show the apples of your cheeks.

2. Use your fingers to feel around your cheek until you have found the most prominent part of your cheekbone. Usually, this will be slightly below the apples of your cheeks, about half an inch away from your nose.

3. Dip your brush gently into the blush and tap off excess. Starting from the part of your cheekbones you located in Step 2, sweep the blush in a slight arc toward your hairline. Stop about an inch from your hairline.

4. Repeat on the alternate cheek and you're done. This method of applying blush emphasizes the natural high cheekbones on oval faces.

Tips & Warnings

• Get a brush that is about 5 inches long with soft but thick bristles. The brushes that usually come packaged with blush are too small to work properly.
