Divide the product of Step 2 by 1,728. The case cube of the box is measured in feet, not in inches. Because there are 12 inches in a foot, a cubic foot contains 12 by 12 by 12 equals 1,728 inches. In dividing by 1,728, you are essentially converting cubic inches into cubic feet. This is similar to dividing a number of inches by 12 to convert the value to feet.
