Choosing the right size for a motocross helmet can make a big difference in how the helmet will perform in the event of an accident. Have someone help you measure your head to ensure the best fit.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Have a friend wrap a cloth measuring tape or a non-stretching string around your head. Position the tape about 1 to 1 1/2 inch above your eyebrows, so it's at your head's largest circumference.

  2. Step 2

If you used a string to measure your head, use a ruler or tape measure to determine the length of the string.

  3. Step 3

Consult a sizing chart to determine the size of your helmet. Youth sizes are generally: small 19 1/4 to 19 5/8 inch; medium 20 to 20 1/2 inch; and large 20 7/8 21 1/4 inch. See the References for adult sizes.

  4. Step 4

Try on a helmet in your size. The fit should be snug, but not too tight.
