If it seems like the pump in your spa hasn't been shooting water at a high enough pressure level, then replacing the pump is likely your best option. Spas are fairly simply appliances, and the pump is the main part, aside from the equipment control system. Because of this, locating the pump, removing it and replacing it with a new one is a straightforward project.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Disconnect both the electrical and water supplies to your spa. The power cord simply unplugs from the wall. The water supply unscrews from your spa.

  2. Step 2

Unscrew and remove the access panel from the spa. The access panel is usually on the lower part of the outside of the spa.

  3. Step 3

Find the pump inside the access panel, on the right side. Look for the control system, which will be on the left.

  4. Step 4

Remove the spa's pump by first disconnecting a bare copper wire that connects the pump to its ground terminal. Next, remove the pump's unions. Be aware that water is likely to drain out of the pump. This won't take more than a few seconds. If your spa is inside, use a bucket and towel to catch this excess water.

  5. Step 5

Take off the pump's mounting screws on the base of the pump with a screwdriver. Finally, disconnect the pump from the control system and lift your pump out of your spa to remove it.

  6. Step 6

Install your new pump by following these directions in reverse. First, connect the new pump to the control system, secure the pump with the mounting screws, reunite the pump's unions and replace the copper wire. Turn the electricity and water back on and test your pump. If everything appears to be working properly, replace the access panel.
