Digital templates can give a person using Adobe Photoshop Elements the ability to create nice collages and albums without needing to do all of the design work himself. Professional photographers often use these templates to offer collage packages to their customers.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Photoshop Elements
  1. Step 1

Open Photoshop Elements by clicking on the icon on your desktop. When it opens, click on the "File" button on the top left of the screen and select "Open."

  2. Step 2

Navigate to the place where the digital template you want to use is saved. The place this is saved depends on where you have saved it, but often it will be saved in a folder called "Templates." This can often be found by navigating to the "C" file, then "Programs," and "Digital Templates." Click on the digital template you want to use and it will open on the screen. The template will include a design, but no photos. You must add those yourself.

  3. Step 3

Add the photos. Click on each blank area of the template where a photo should be attached and select "File" and then "Place" to choose and place photos into these spaces on the template.

  4. Step 4

Change the colors. If the dominant color of the template is one color, but the photos feature another dominant color and you want the two colors to match, click on the background and then go to "View" and click on "Color Palette." Choose the color from the palette that you want the background to be.

  5. Step 5

Change the text. Select the text tool from the toolbox on the left side of the page and double click on the template's existing text. Press "Ctrl+A" and "Ctrl+X" to delete the text. Then type in your own text.

Tips & Warnings
  • To change the text font and size, use the text window in the toolbar on the top of the screen.
