Instructions

    • 1

Lay a tarp underneath the window pane where you are going to cut out the glass, just in case. You do not ever want stray glass flying around.

    • 2

Put on gloves and protective eyewear for the same reason. Pinpoint a place on the glass in the double-paned window. Very carefully place the chisel or back of hammer against this point, and tap on it until cracks appear. Once cracks appear in the glass, use the chisel to pry out some of the smaller pieces.

    • 3

Use the glass cutters the cut through the thicker pieces of glass, removing them from the pane.

    • 4

Pry out the larger pieces of glass with your hands in the gloves, placing them in a pile beside you or in a bucket. When pulling out the glass by the frame, try to remove as much putty as possible with the glass. Do all of this carefully so that the second pane of glass is not affected.
