Thin-walled metal conduit benders are designed to save you money by allowing you to bend your own 30-degree, 45-degree, 60-degree and 90-degree elbow joints. Conduit benders take the guesswork out of bending conduit at the correct angle by providing raised degree markers at these angles. Some benders have 22.5-degree and 33.9-degree marks as well. Conduit benders also allow you to bend metal conduit at any other angle that you need. All you have to do is bend the conduit, test-fit it, make corrections and cut the conduit to size.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Thin-walled metal conduit bender
  1. Step 1

Insert the metal conduit into the bender and position the conduit where the bend is required.

  2. Step 2

Place the conduit bender on the ground or on the floor with the bending apparatus toward the ground or floor. Step on the conduit so it will not be displaced while bending.

  3. Step 3

Pull the bender toward you to the desired bend angle. Release pressure on the bender and check the angle guide on the bender to be certain you have reached the desired bend angle. Repeat until the desired bend angle has been achieved.

  4. Step 4

Remove the conduit from the bender. Cut the conduit to size, if needed, and install the conduit where it belongs.

  5. Step 5

Repeat for each elbow that needs to be installed.
