How to Install an HD VCR Receiver

If you do not have a cable box or set-top box with a built-in high definition tuner, you can install an HD receiver in your home to receive high definition signal. In addition, some HD receivers also include VCRs, which will allow you to record the high definition programming. In order to use an HD VCR receiver, you must have an HD-ready television to connect it to.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • HD-ready television
  • HD VCR receiver
  • Coaxial cable
  • Component or HDMI cable
  1. Step 1

    Unplug both the power cables of both the HD VCR receiver and the television.

  2. Step 2

    Run one coaxial cable from your main cable connection to the "In" port on the HD VCR receiver.

  3. Step 3

    Run component video cables or an HDMI cable from the "Out" port on the HD VCR receiver to the video input plugs on your television.

  4. Step 4

    Plug both the HD VCR receiver and the television back into standard electrical outlets.

  5. Step 5

    Use the "Source" button on your television remote control to navigate to the source where you plugged the receiver cables in during Step 3.
